How to Keep Your Hair Fresh For 7 Days April 9, 2020
Happy Thursday! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. Do you want to know how to keep your hair looking fabulous while only washing it once a week? This blog post is all about how I do just that. One thing I absolutely DREAD doing is washing and drying my hair. The fact that I only have to do it once a week now is pure heaven. Here is how to keep your hair fresh for 7 days.
How Do I Wash My Hair Only Once a Week?
I know this seems crazy at first; I thought the same thing to be honest. What you have to do is train your hair and scalp to get used to only washing it once a week. Start only washing your hair once a week. I would personally pick a time where you won’t be going a lot of places. It took my hair about a month to get used to only washing it once a week. After that, you will be golden! Once may hair got used to the washing change, I added in dry shampoos and texture sprays. These two products really help give your hair life and freshen it up after not washing it for a few days.
What Products Do I Use?
I have used several different dry shampoos and texture sprays. Some have been amazing and some not so amazing. I will only be posting about the ones I have personally used that I love.

My favorite dry shampoo is by far Batiste (original). You get a lot of product for your buck and it works really well. I like the original because that particular kind of Batiste worked the best for my hair type (coarse/thick) and color (icy blonde). I do know that if you have darker hair, Batiste also has a version for brunettes.

My favorite texture spray is the Amika Un.Done Volume and Texture Spray. This spray really gives amazing volume and keeps your style intact. It also smells really good; which is nice.
How Do I Use These Products?
I like to start using dry shampoo and texture spray after Day 2 of not washing my hair. I start by styling my hair. Please DO NOT put dry shampoo in first. By putting dry shampoo in before styling your hair with heat, it can fry your hair. Dry shampoo strips away the oils in your hair that keeps your hair safe from heat. Rant over. After I style my hair with heat, I spray dry shampoo in the front of my hair line and around my ears. I section the top of my hair (on both sides) and spray there as well. The last place I spray dry shampoo is under my hair on the nape of my neck. Basically wherever it is super oily, I put dry shampoo. I let that sit for a couple of minutes then work it in/out with my fingers or a brush. You will know it is all worked in because the white residue that this dry shampoo has will be no longer visible.
After dry shampoo is in and I have worked it in/out of my hair, I will use my Amika texture spray. Pro tip- spray up into your hair instead of spraying directly at it like hair spray. Spraying up into your hair allows it to get underneath the top layer and really fluff up your hair.
That is it!
That’s all you have to do to keep your hair fresh after only washing it once a week. Remember, train your hair first! That is the most important part.
