My First Experience with Botox April 9, 2020
You guys know I LOVE my lip injections and microneedling with PRP. This time I was able to visit Michel at Gilded Beauty OKC in Oklahoma City for my first experience with Botox. Michel gave me Botox for THE FIRST TIME! Not her first time, of course. I have to admit, I was pretty nervous, but Michel told me the in and outs of the procedure and exactly what to expect.
What is Botox?
Botox, also known as a Botulinum Toxin, blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles where it is administered. This causes the muscle to longer have the ability to contract. Not having the ability to contract, causes the wrinkles to relax and soften. Most people get Botox in their forehead, crows feet, and frown lines. These are all places where I got my Botox.
My first botox procedure would be done by Michel at Gilded Beauty OKC in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is a certified RN under the supervision of a Doctor. Michel did such a wonderful job with the Botox. I am so happy with how well the Botox worked and how well she placed it.
Benefits of Botox?

As previously stated, Botox helps to soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles where it is injected. Botox can also help in lifting the eyebrows for a “facelift” appearance.
Procedure Time
Before my first experience with botox, Michel and I talked about exactly what I was hoping to achieve with the Botox (wrinkle-free!). She then told me exactly what to expect. She offered to put some numbing cream on but told me the pain was very tolerable without it. So, I opted for no numbing cream to see how the pain was.
The first thing Michel had me do was scrunch my face a few different ways. She studied exactly where the wrinkles were and where exactly she needed to inject the Botox.
After studying my face, she started with the injections. Yall… I hardly felt a thing. Honestly, I am so glad I didn’t do the numbing cream. She started with my frown lines (lines between my brows) then went to the forehead and did the crow’s feet last.
The only thing I noticed after she was done injecting, were a few pink spots where the injections were made. No swelling or anything like that.
After the Procedure
Michel made sure I knew not to lay down for AT LEAST 4 hours and not to massage the area for AT LEAST 1 hour. Doing either one of those can cause the Botox to migrate to places that it doesn’t need to be. Yikes! You are encouraged, however, to use the muscles as much as possible for the next hour after your injections.
The Recovery

The recovery from my first experience with Botox was a breeze. There is no downtime at all. Michel says she has patients who come to her for Botox and leave for a date after. It is that easy! Botox is not something that works right away. It does take anywhere from 7-14 days for the Botox to work its magic. After 14 days, Michel likes to see you back for a follow up to see how the Botox did and if any additional Botox is desired.
I did notice very, very slight bruising in my forehead. I literally could barely see it, but it was there. Very easily covered with makeup. Other than that, I had no side-effects or any complaints.
Pricing of Botox?
The cost of Botox is $10 per Unit. It really depends on how much product you end up using to determine the total cost. The average person gets between 30-40 Units of Botox.
Would I Get Botox Again?
I would ABSOLUTELY, 100 TIMES, yes do this procedure again!! The pain was so tolerable and it actually boosted my self-esteem a lot!
Enjoy!!
