Products That Help with Acne and Acne Scarring

I get asked this question ALL OF THE TIME. What are some products that help with acne and acne scarring? I figured it would be helpful for me to write an entire blog post dedicated to just that. The products shown below are linked, so all you have to do is click on the one you are interested in or want more information on.

A little backstory: I have had acne for as long as I can remember. When I was a sophomore in college, I started taking the generic form of Accutane. Although it did get rid of the acne, it left my face FULL of horrible acne scarring; both red spots as well as deep scarring. Needless to say I was not happy, but I no longer had bad acne like I once had. Fast forward to now (8 or so years later) I have come across some really good products that help with acne and acne scarring

What Helps With Acne?

So I can’t even begin to tell you how many products I have tried. Even though I took Accutane, I still get breakouts every now and then. Especially during “that time of the month”. The products that have helped me TREMENDOUSLY are the professional-grade Dermalogica products (linked below) and the Tula Skincare products (linked below). Both of these are really good at eliminating acne. Both skincare lines are very impressive. I honestly switch between the two quite often. I use the Tula Acne Diminishing stick and it gets rid of a pimple almost overnight. Praise!

What Helps With Acne Scarring?

Acne scarring is a bit more difficult to treat considering how they form. They are super pesky and not very appealing to the eye. HOWEVER, you are BEAUTIFUL even if you have acne scars. I just know personally what it feels like to want them gone and to wish you didn’t have them.

The top two things I recommend are on the pricier side, but they do work wonders.
1. Microneedling with PRP is a great way to reduce the appearance of acne scarring. Even the super deep ones. I got mine done from Renew Oklahoma and Dr. Shelley did such an amazing job. I have had 2 sessions so far and will be getting a third treatment done soon. You can read the entire blog post I did on the treatment by clicking the words highlighted above. Pricing is around $1800 for 3 treatments. The price also depends on where you go.

2. Another procedure I recommend for Acne scarring (especially in the forehead and around the temples. eye area) is Botox. Yes, Botox! Botox actually helps lift the skin temporarily which can help diminish the look of acne scarring. I got my Botox done by Michel Eisenhour at Gilded Beauty OKC and am putting the finishing touches on my blog post about that experience. I will link this soon! The pricing is around $10 per unit of Botox. Pricing will vary depending on where you go.

As far as products go, I do have some favorites that I use often and have used in the past to help with the appearance of my acne scars.

Final Thoughts

I hope this blog post will help you guys find the products that work best for YOU. Also, I want to add that I am NOT a skin professional or a doctor. I am just sharing what has worked for me.

Enjoy!
