Hand Tied Hair Extensions July 3, 2019

I have been saying for a while that I wanted to get hand tied hair extensions. I got the opportunity to make this happen by collaborating with Ashlee Fusciardi; an amazing stylist at Meraki Hair Studio in Oklahoma City. Ashlee was an absolute dream to work with and made my mermaid hair dreams come to life!
I loved working with Ashlee as she was so personable and knowledgeable about hair extensions. She listened to exactly what I wanted to achieve and even offered suggestions on how to achieve what I was looking for; which was long mermaid hair. She surpassed my high expectations with her work. The extensions Ashlee and Meraki Hair Studio use are such great quality. They are from the Flaunt Hair Extensions line. If you are in the Oklahoma area, I definitely recommend going to her.

Hand Tied Hair Extension Questions
Before I had Ashlee install my extensions, I asked you guys to compile a list of questions that YOU were wanting answers to. Ashlee was kind enough to let me interview her and pick her brain about hand tied hair extensions. Below are the questions and answers for you guys!
What are these extensions?
A: Hand tied extensions is a whole new method of hair extensions using a weft of hair that can be cut to the client’s head shape and size. That being said, these extensions are more customizable to each client than other methods.
What is the cost of hand tied extensions?
A: Hand tied extensions are between $1200-$1600. The cost varies depending on how much hair is needed as well as the length.
How long does the hair last?
A: With proper care, hand tied hair extensions can last up to a year (sometimes even longer).
What is the maintenance like?
A: You have to go in every 6-8 weeks to have the extensions moved up and have the color maintained (If color is needed).
How do hand tied extensions differ from tape-in extensions?
A: Hand tied extensions are more customizable to your head shape and size. They also offer a bigger weft of hair to work with and no tape is used.
Can you color the hand tied extensions?
A: You can color and tone them, but cannot lift color from them.
You Guys Had Lots of Questions!
What lengths do they come in?
A: The lengths of hand tied extensions are 18in, 22in, and 24in. I chose the 22in length.
How long does the installation take?
A: My installation took around 2.5 hours, but it really depends on how much hair is being used. I have 2 full rows and 1 half row of extensions.
Is it real hair?
A: Yes. The hair I have is 100% Russian hair.
Are hand tied extensions safe for your hair?
A: If installed properly, yes. Hand tied extensions are the least damaging method of hair extensions out there at the moment. The extension weight is evenly distributed around the hair, so not just one section is bearing all of the weight.
What products can you use on hand tied extensions?
A: You can use any product as long as it is paraben and sulfate free.
Can you wash these extensions?
A: Yes, you can wash them just like your normal hair (being a bit more careful of course).
Did you get extensions for volume or length?
A: I got them for length, because I already have pretty thick hair. I just wanted longer hair.
Are the hair extensions heavy?
A: No, they are not heavy at all. You can tell they are in the first day or two, but after that it feels like your regular hair. I forget I have them in sometimes!
A HUGE thank you to Ashlee for working her magic on my hair. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Make sure to tune in to my Instagram for more pictures of my hair!
Enjoy!
